It’s all about the athlete!

I’m passionate about the sport and take great pride in seeing the athlete’s performing at their best.

My experience as Head Coach of the World Tour team – Katusha Alpecin and personally coaching riders such as Caleb Ewan, Marcel Kittel, Mat Hayman, and Mitch Docker, has enabled me to implement my coaching philosophy at the highest level.

With 20 years of coaching experience, and victories in Paris-Roubaix 2016, Grand Tour stage wins, World Tour Classics and many podium places at World Tour level; we understand the planning, science and training required to win the biggest races.

To achieve this, I am at the forefront of implementing the latest technology and science-based training.

This means having practical knowledge and experience in:

  • implementing the correct dietary manipulation technique with the appropriate training session.
  • understanding the correct use of gym work and the implementation of Velocity Based strength work.
  • providing the athlete with meaningful and reliable testing. (See INSCYD)
  • implementing the use of indoor training with Zwift. We are leading the way amongst professional cyclists in the use indoor training and the associated benefits.

I was an early adopter of powermeter’s and began using these in 1996. This interest in technology sees me embracing and trialling all technology and finding a positive use for the athlete.

My interest in exercise physiology ensures I keep up to date with the latest scientific studies, with this knowledge being passed onto my athletes

Ultimately, I enjoy sharing the journey with athletes and helping them improve and realise their full potential.
